Yes. How a Nurse Practitioner prescribes medications is regulated by each state’s Nurse Practice Act. In Florida, Nurse Practitioners have prescriptive authority through written agreements with a collaborating physician. In Florida, ARNP’s are restricted and cannot prescribe controlled substances.
