Has anyone switched to Blogger Beta yet? I am playing with it but I hate to lose my nice template! I just found the thing and really don’t like the boring ones that are available. I keep surfing for beta templates but no one has gotten creative yet. Let me know what you think.
I will be doing clinicals in a new doctor’s office on Monday and Tuesday. I hope that we hit it off because he is high on my list of perspective employers. I’m counting the days until I can stop the heavy lifting of patients. My good knee is turning into my bad one.
Strangely enough, my youngest son has developed “sympathy pains in his leg” whenever my knee hurts. No, really! Every time my knee hurts, he comes home from school complaining about his leg hurting. Today, he asked about my knee when he climbed into the truck because his leg hurt today. I was asked “why do I have to hurt when you do Mommy?”
I told him that we were “extra specially connected” and that I was sorry that he hurts when I do.
Mommy will try and take better care of her knee. I’ve heard of this phenomenon before but never has happened to me. Interesting…
My mom doesn’t have to have her surgery. The MRI results showed that her carotid is only 50% blocked and the surgeon says that they won’t bother with it until it’s much more. Not sure how to feel about that. Part of me wants her to go ahead while she’s healthy and just get it done. She’s happy not to have to go under the knife again.. Thanks for all the well wishes!
I had a great day at clinicals yesterday! I got to do an incision and drainage of abscesses on two patients arms. I enjoy doing those types of things. Those were the interesting situations.
Most of the rest of the patients were things like back pain, sore throats, upper respiratory complaints etc. We are supposed to be up to seeing 7-8 patients but I have been seeing up to 19 in a 9 hour period in the Fasttrack. At that rate, the office pace will be much slower.
On another note! I turned 39 today… My sisters both sent me the exact same birthday card this year. They do that sometimes. I guess great minds think alike. My mom’s having another surgery to remove the 90% blockage in her carotid artery. The other one was done about 5 years ago before her quad bypass. Now she’ll have a complete set of new pipes! Keep her in your prayers for me..
That means that I also must pay closer attention to my own health. It’s time for a cholesterol check..
I just heard on the news that the Red Cross is being fined around 4 million dollars for not asking proper screening questions of potential donors. They state that there have been no adverse medical events. Evidently, this isn’t the first time the American Red Cross has had this type of trouble .
Sit back and watch the amount of lawsuits if someone gets AIDS or Hepatitis from a blood transfusion. We all know that the blood is screened as much as possible, but it will be harder to convince patients to receive blood with this in the news.
SIGH!!

I’m a little late sometimes, but I finally got a chance to surf some of the nursing blogs in my sidebar. I found a link to this video at ImpactED Nurse and it REALLY got to me. I highly recommend that you see it.
There’s a yeast in my beast and it just won’t go away!
I was on antibiotic therapy for what seemed forever and a day.
I feel rather like a pup who scoots along the floor.
I’ve itched and burned until I can’t take it one minute more!
My poor hubby is feeling very neglected, I must say.
“Good Lord! It’s been forever since you’ve come out to play!”
Creams and pills haven’t yet done the trick.
I’ve moaned and groaned until everyone around me is quite sick!
My GYN says sometimes these yeasties can be quite resistant.
But I say, “What I need is some quick assistance!”
So Ladies if you take any advice from me. This one thing’s for sure!
Avoid antibiotic therapy unless you’re on Death’s dark and dreary door!
